June 2021 Special Medicaid Bulletin
Since the beginning of COVID-19, Medicaid recipients have seen many changes in the Medicaid rules. Some more recent developments are outlined below:
Stimulus check federal rules state that Medicaid recipients have 12 months to spend any stimulus money in whatever way they wish without penalties.
Minnesota Medicaid suspended enforcement of the asset limit during COVID. The suspension was set to stop in June 2021, but has now been extended through August 31, 2021.
In light of this, by August 31, 2021, Medicaid recipients will need to be under assets. This means under $3,000 for unmarried individuals, and under $133,000 for married.
